How Substance Abuse Starts

For many people, risky behaviors that lead to drug abuse addiction start during early adolescence. Most of these children do not progress in their drug use, but the ones who do are often associated with one or more risk factors for drug abuse, including: Aggressive behavior. Inadequate parental supervision. Easy access to drugs. Living at or below the poverty level. If a child is exposed to several of these risk factors, there is a greater likelihood that he will abuse drugs later in life. Some people begin abusing drugs during adulthood despite the lack of risk factors. In many cases, the abuse starts with a simple prescription by a physician for a legitimate medical purpose. There are quite a few drugs, especially prescription pain relievers, that your body builds up a tolerance to. You then require more and more of the drug to achieve the same effect, which can lead to abuse as well as physical and psychological addiction.

The path to drug addiction begins with the voluntary act of taking drugs. But over time, a person's ability to choose not to do so becomes compromised. Seeking and taking the drug becomes compulsive. This is mostly due to the effects of long-term drug exposure on brain function. Addiction affects parts of the brain involved in reward and motivation, learning and memory, and control over behavior. How it happened, one (drugs introduction)

After I joined campus I knew that I had begun my successful adventure. Little did I know that sometimes what we hope for isn't what we get. I had this safe feeling since I had my grandma around who happened to lecturer procurement at the university. I had little to fear. It happened that one afternoon grandma was throwing a party at her house and could not have turned it. After all, I did not have any engagement that day. She had invited some relatives and close friends who live around. And off I went to the party. I met my cousins whom I had last seen years back and also made friends who to date gave my life a turnaround. We had barely finished having our lunch when one of our 'new pals,' a neighbor to my grandmother, asked if we could have a walk around. I knew it was going to be fun.
